Suggestions that Martin Odegaard has reached an agreement with Galatasaray are entirely without foundation. Reports in Turkey claimed that Arsenal skipper's agent, Bjorn Kvarme, had been spotted in Istanbul.
However, sources close to the player have made clear that his agent has actually been with him in the United States, supporting his outstanding displays for Norway. The 27-year-old became just the third player since 1966 to earn an assist in each of his first three World Cup appearances.
Odegaard 'Very Happy' at Arsenal
Moreover, Odegaard is believed to be 'very happy' at Arsenal. The club are equally delighted with his contributions both on and off the pitch throughout the title-winning Premier League campaign.
Odegaard endured considerable injury misfortune during the previous season. He initially contended with two separate shoulder complaints before a knee problem sidelined him for lengthy spells, and the midfielder has faced a challenge from Eberechi Eze this season, yet remained an influential figure when available.
Arteta and Teammates Back the Captain
Mikel Arteta has consistently dismissed speculation surrounding a change in the captaincy. Arsenal's manager has repeatedly reaffirmed his support for Odegaard.
He also retains the backing of his teammates, who unanimously voted to keep him as captain. Odegaard also captains his country, having assumed that responsibility a year before taking on the armband at Arsenal.
World Cup Focus and Pre-Season Plans
Odegaard remains firmly focused on guiding Norway towards a historic achievement this summer. He and his compatriots are set to face tournament heavyweights Brazil on Sunday evening.
Should Norway be knocked out, Odegaard will begin his summer break. That has been extended by his involvement in this summer's World Cup. He could, however, return to the fold before the end of July. Arsenal's pre-season schedule gets underway on August 1 away to Girona, followed by a trip to Dublin to take on Real Betis on August 5.
