There has been no contact between AC Milan and Mason Mount's camp, despite a report from Italy claiming the Manchester United midfielder had been offered to the Italian club. Sources close to Mount were surprised to read the claim, as the 27-year-old is expected to remain at Old Trafford.
Background on the Transfer Rumour
A report from Italy suggested that Mount was offered to AC Milan, where former United head coach Ruben Amorim was recently appointed. Amorim was a huge admirer of Mount during his time at Old Trafford, but the midfielder is not seeking a move. Mount has been training in Spain with an individual coach ahead of United's pre-season and is focused on starting the new campaign strongly.
Mount's Role Under Michael Carrick
United's schedule returns to normal in 2026/2027, with the club competing in the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, and Carabao Cup. Mount is seen as an important senior player. He started his first game under Michael Carrick against Sunderland in May and was handed another start on the final day against Brighton. After picking up a small injury following Carrick's second game against Arsenal, Mount was sidelined until mid-March.
Previous Form Under Amorim
Mount enjoyed his most consistent run of form in a United shirt in the first half of last season, scoring against Sunderland, Crystal Palace, and Wolves in Amorim's system. After scoring against Wolves at Molineux, Amorim praised him for being able to "defend and attack" and said he had become a leader in the dressing room by leading by example on the pitch.
Carrick's Support for Mount
Carrick has insisted there is a place for Mount in his plans. “I like Mason a lot, and he’s an important player for this team and this club,” he said in January. Mount is now focused on getting the new campaign off to a good start, with no intention of leaving Manchester United this summer.
