Man Utd to Earn £5.6m from Mason Greenwood's Surprise Fenerbahce Move
Man Utd to Earn £5.6m from Greenwood's Fenerbahce Move

Former Manchester United striker Mason Greenwood has chosen Fenerbahce over Roma, with the Turkish club agreeing a €40m (£34.1m) package with Marseille. The deal will see Manchester United receive a significant windfall due to a sell-on clause in the original transfer agreement.

Transfer Details and Financial Impact

According to RMC Sport, Fenerbahce have agreed terms with Marseille and held talks with both the French club and Manchester United. The Red Devils are entitled to 40% of any profit Marseille make on Greenwood, meaning they will secure around €6m (£5.6m) once the move is completed. Greenwood is also set to earn a substantial wage at Fenerbahce, with his four-year contract reportedly worth €10m (£8.5m) per season, a key factor in his decision to reject Roma.

Greenwood's International Future Uncertain

With his club future clarified, attention now turns to Greenwood's international allegiance. The striker had previously represented England but was reportedly set to declare for Jamaica. However, he has not been called up for Jamaica's recent fixtures. Former Jamaica boss Steve McClaren stated: "We acquired a passport and we expected him to be coming to this camp. But in a conversation with his family [we found out] he's not going to commit at this time to anybody. He's taking his time over that, so it's a little bit disappointing." McClaren added that Greenwood wants to focus on club football and not commit to an international team at present.
