Jeremy Monga: Man City Beat Arsenal to Leicester Starlet

Manchester City have secured the signing of Leicester City teenager Jeremy Monga, beating Arsenal to the highly-rated winger. The 17-year-old, who turned 17 on July 10, has already made 34 senior appearances for the Foxes and made his Premier League debut at the age of 15 against Newcastle United in April 2025.

Maresca Connection Key

City initially monitored Monga last summer but decided against a move. He then signed a one-year scholarship deal with Leicester, which was set to become professional when he turned 17. Arsenal were expected to complete a transfer this summer, but the arrival of Enzo Maresca as Manchester City manager reignited the club's interest. Maresca previously coached Monga at Leicester, giving him intimate knowledge of the player's talent.

Premier League Record

Only Arsenal duo Max Dowman and Ethan Nwaneri have played in the Premier League at a younger age than Monga. The versatile attacker has predominantly played on the left for Leicester but is capable of operating centrally or on the right.

Pre-Season Opportunity

Monga is expected to be given a chance to impress on City's pre-season tour of Asia this summer, with several first-team stars still away at the World Cup.
