Love Island Australia star Trent Woolman was airlifted to hospital after falling into a bonfire and becoming trapped in the flames while cleaning his sister's rural property in Inverleigh, Victoria. The 28-year-old suffered burns to his arms, mouth and airways, and had to crawl back to his sister's house to get help.
Two weeks in hospital
Doctors later discovered multiple brain bleeds and a cyst on his brain, which delayed a surgical skin graft to repair the damage to his arms. Speaking to the Daily Mail after two weeks in hospital, Woolman described the incident as the "worst time" of his life, reports the Daily Express.
Images shared with the publication showed Woolman with bandages covering his entire face and forearms. He said: "I got stuck on the fire and got off and crawled back to the house. Been in hospital for two weeks and have a couple of weeks to go."
Emergency response
His sister called an ambulance, with Woolman praising her as "amazing" and "so brave". MICA intensive care paramedics were then called, and a helicopter was requested to airlift him to hospital in Melbourne. Woolman confirmed he was sober at the time of the accident, which he described as "traumatic".
Reality TV career
Woolman is best known for starring in the 2023 series of Love Island Australia. He said in 2023: "I dated… well, not dated, but we were on and off for a couple of years, Phoebe Spiller from last year and I. I thought I was gonna marry that girl, so I was pretty disappointed to see her on the show last year."
He is now set to make a cameo in the new series of Married at First Sight Australia, when he attends the wedding of his Love Island co-star Zac Nunns, who is paired with TikTok star Vanilla Milla on the show.
