Arsenal are on the verge of completing their third summer signing, with a £35million deal for Club Brugge winger Christos Tzolis expected to be finalised. The 24-year-old Greek international has emerged as a key target for Mikel Arteta as the Gunners look to bolster their attacking options.
Tzolis to fill Trossard void
Leandro Trossard is set to leave for Besiktas after the World Cup, creating a vacancy on the left wing. Tzolis, who has scored 43 goals in the past two seasons for Club Brugge, is seen as the ideal replacement. According to The Sun, the transfer will make Tzolis the most expensive Greek player of all time. He joined Brugge from Norwich City in 2024.
Further targets remain
Tzolis's arrival is not expected to affect Arsenal's interest in Aston Villa's Morgan Rogers, who remains the club's top target. Villa have placed a £130m price tag on the 23-year-old England star. Arsenal are also set to intensify their pursuit of Newcastle midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, who has requested to leave St James' Park.
Two signings already secured
Earlier this summer, Arsenal completed the permanent signing of defender Piero Hincapie from Bayer Leverkusen after a loan spell. They also signed former Leeds goalkeeper Ilian Meslier on a free transfer. Meslier, who signed a two-year deal with an option for an additional year, expressed his delight at joining the club.
"I'm extremely happy. It's a great day for me because I have just joined the champions. For me, Arsenal is the biggest club in England," Meslier said. "I cannot wait to show the love that I've got for this badge, and I cannot wait to win trophies with this team, because this is a club that needs to lift trophies again and again."
The French goalkeeper added: "First of all, I want to start with the keepers, to show my levels, to continue to develop my skills, my ability. And then obviously to gain some game time, because this is what I missed last year. This year, I want to show that I want to play."
