Met Office Fog Warning: Flights at Risk in 10-Hour Alert

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for fog, with flights at risk of being grounded and travel disruption expected across parts of the UK this weekend. The warning, in place from midnight on Sunday until 10am, covers parts of the Midlands, London, the South East and South West. Visibility could fall to just 50m in some areas.

Areas Covered by the Warning

The warning affects 33 areas across four regions. In the East Midlands, Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Northamptonshire are included. London and the South East England region covers Bracknell Forest, Buckinghamshire, East Sussex, Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Oxfordshire, Portsmouth, Reading, Southampton, Surrey, West Berkshire, West Sussex, Windsor and Maidenhead, and Wokingham.

In South West England, the affected areas are Bath and North East Somerset, Bournemouth Christchurch and Poole, Bristol, Devon, Dorset, Gloucestershire, North Somerset, Somerset, South Gloucestershire, Swindon and Wiltshire. The West Midlands region includes Staffordshire, Stoke-on-Trent, Warwickshire, West Midlands Conurbation and Worcestershire.

Potential Travel Disruption

Dense fog could lead to flight cancellations and slower journeys for drivers, according to the Met Office. The reduced visibility may cause delays across transport networks during the warning period.

This is a breaking news story, and further updates may follow as the situation develops.
