Martin Lewis has urged British travellers to redeem their Eurostar loyalty scheme points before October 29, ahead of a shake-up to the Club Eurostar programme. From the end of October, travellers will need more points to claim the same rewards.
Changes to Club Eurostar from October 30
The Money Saving Expert warned that from October 30, customers will need 1,100 points for a standard one-way ticket to or from London – 100 more than currently required. Lewis stated that travellers can still purchase tickets for travel after this date using their points, and that converting points into money off a booking is due to remain the same.
Loyalty tiers explained
The scheme is free to join and allows customers to earn points on ticket purchases. There are four tiers, each offering different earning rates and perks:
- Classique: Up to 499 points (a spend of up to £416). Earns 1.2 reward points for every £1 spent – the standard rate, which is not changing.
- Avantage: 500 to 2,899 points. Earns a 25% bonus on points earned at the standard rate.
- Carte Blanche: 2,900 to 4,999 points. Earns a 50% bonus.
- Étoile: 5,000 or more points. Earns a 75% bonus.
What is not affected
Lewis also noted that tickets for travel between France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany, plus upgrades to these tickets, will not be impacted by the changes. He urges customers to make purchases as soon as possible to make the most of their points.
