Megan Stalter made a striking entrance at the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards red carpet, appearing painted head-to-toe in gold, which left her virtually unrecognisable.
The 36-year-old star, nominated for an Emmy for her role as Kayla Schaeffer in the HBO Max comedy Hacks, is known for her bold red carpet stylings. On Monday night, she arrived dressed as an Emmy.
Her skin was painted gold, her hair was painted gold, and she wore giant gold wings, gold jewellery and gold heels.
Emmy Statuette Pose Recreated
As she posed on the carpet with Hacks co-creator Paul W. Downs, Stalter recreated the Emmy statuette's iconic pose, with help from Downs.
It remains unclear who designed the gown or did her makeup. During the NBC preshow, she was asked if she was "wearing Versace" and later "who designed it," but the Emmy-nominated star did not reveal any details.
She replied: "This is a remake because, well, let's say I'm not a size three."
History of Bold Red Carpet Looks
Previously, she has arrived at red carpets dressed as a pageant queen with a sash reading "BEST GAY ACTOR" for the Critics Choice Association Celebration of LGBTQ+ Cinema & Television, a Diet Coke can at the Las Culturistas Culture Awards, and a coffee cup at the MTV Video Music Awards.
At the Critics' Choice Awards earlier this year, she and Downs wore matching bright orange outfits that appeared to be a subtle throwback to a couples' outfit previously worn by Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner.
