British expat Harry Poulton, 24, has warned tourists visiting Benidorm to avoid three specific areas due to safety concerns. Poulton, who moved from Brighton to the Spanish resort after a trip with friends at age 18, now shares his insights on TikTok, where he has over 40,000 followers.
Areas to avoid
Poulton identified the 'Yellow Brick Road', a cluster of pubs and restaurants on streets like Leanto, Ibiza, and Leerida, as a hotspot for pickpocketing at night. He advises it is safe during the day but recommends avoiding it after dark.
The second area is Pueblo Alley near Levante Beach. Poulton warns of pickpockets and occasional sex workers late at night, suggesting tourists take alternative routes.
Topping his list is 'Mugger's Alley', notorious for pickpocketing, sex workers, and new taxi scams. Poulton urges tourists to cross the road to avoid trouble.
Benidorm as a paradise
Despite these risks, Poulton insists Benidorm is a paradise for residents. He claims many British visitors have misguided views about scams and prices. Since moving, his monthly expenses have dropped to between £500 and £1,000, including bills. He stated: "If you live here, you get it. Benidorm is paradise - and anyone who says otherwise is lying."
Benidorm attracts approximately five million visitors annually, making it one of the most popular destinations for British tourists.
