A body has been discovered in the search for a Belgian tourist who went missing after setting out for a hike on the Isle of Skye.
Missing hiker identified as Hector Patemore
Hector Patemore, 45, was last seen on Sunday morning, September 13, as he headed out to climb in the Cuillin mountain range. The Belgian national left the Youth Hostel in Glen Brittle in Torrin at around 10.45am to begin his walk.
He intended to climb Sgurr Na Banachdich, descending via Coire Na Banachdich in the Cuillin Mountain area, a route described by police as "relatively straightforward."
Discovery during search operation
An experienced hillwalker, Patemore failed to return to his accommodation and had not been in contact with his family. He was reported missing at around 10.25pm.
Police confirmed that at around 2pm on Monday, September 14, a body was found during a search of the Cuillin area of the Isle of Skye.
Family informed and next steps
Formal identification has yet to take place, but Patemore's family have been made aware of the discovery.
The death is not being treated as suspicious, and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.
