Weather maps indicate that snow will affect 42 counties across the UK by November 19, with some areas potentially seeing up to 50cm of accumulation.
Snow Expected Across Northern UK
According to a forecast from WXCharts.com, the northern part of the country will be hit by snow on November 19. The northeast of England, as well as Scotland, could be under 50cm of snow, a weather map shows.
Other areas in England, including the northwest and parts of the Midlands, could also see snow, but those places are only predicted to receive a maximum of 5cm.
Met Office Forecast for November 19
A separate forecast from the Met Office for November 19 mentions "changeable weather" with a chance of rain and strong winds. The full forecast read: "During the second half of November, there is an increasing chance of changeable or more unsettled conditions developing, with spells of rain and the potential for strong winds at times."
The forecast continued: "The extent and location of the wettest and windiest weather is very uncertain in this range, with northern and western areas generally most favoured, but there is a chance the wettest conditions could become more focused across southern parts for a time."
"Towards the end of November, whilst confidence is very low in the overall weather patterns, there may be a tendency for the tracks of Atlantic lows to shift farther south. Temperatures are likely to be near or above average for much of the period, although colder interludes remain possible, perhaps more especially later in the period."
Earlier Snow Possible Next Week
Other forecasts also suggest snow could reach the UK as early as Thursday, November 12. Maps generated by WXCharts show snow could reach parts of Scotland and northern England as early as next week.
The latest charts show patches of snow accumulation across northern Scotland, with the Highlands appearing particularly vulnerable to the wintry conditions.
A Met Office long-range forecast reads: "As the high pressure begins to migrate away to the east, frontal systems may attempt to bring some occasional rain to parts of the southwest and/or northwest at times, though exactly how much progress into the UK this makes is uncertain."
"Rainfall is most likely to be below average in many areas for this period as a whole, with temperatures initially a little below average before returning to near or slightly above average."
