Met Office fog warning: 36 areas face travel disruption

The Met Office has issued a fresh yellow weather warning for fog, with thousands of Brits facing travel disruptions this weekend. The warning was issued at 4.12am on Saturday, October 31, and is in place from 4am to 10am as heavy fog is expected to cover several areas on Saturday morning.

The warning covers parts of the East Midlands, East of England, London and South East England, North West England, Wales, West Midlands, and Yorkshire and Humber.

Dense fog to reduce visibility below 100 metres

A Met Office forecast said: "Areas of fog, dense in places with visibility below 100 metres at times, will slowly begin to thin, lift and clear later this morning or, in some spots, not until this afternoon."

The weather conditions are likely to create slower journey times, with delays to bus and train services possible. The forecaster also warns that delays or cancellations to flights are possible.

Advice for travellers

A spokesperson for the Met Office added: "Give yourself the best chance of avoiding delays by checking road conditions if driving, leaving extra journey time, or amending plans if necessary."

"Make sure you know how to switch on your fog lights, and check they are working before setting off on your journey. Bus and train services, as well as flights and ferry travel may also be affected; check for updates from your travel company and follow their advice."

The fresh weather warning follows a yellow weather warning for fog that was in place until 10am on Friday morning, again causing an impact to travel.
