Darkness Falls tipped for Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket

Daily Star Chief Tipster Jason Heavey has marked the card for weekend racing, with Darkness Falls getting the vote in the Darley Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket on Saturday.

Coolmore’s son of Camelot won his maiden by seven lengths at the Curragh before taking the Group One Golden Fleece Stakes at Leopardstown. He is dropping back in trip to 7f but has plenty of toe and is preferred to the unbeaten Godolphin colt Desert Castle, Charlie Appleby’s son of Frankel who won the Champagne Stakes at Doncaster.

Cesarewitch outsider

In the Club Godolphin Cesarewitch Handicap, Heavey is rolling the dice with big outsider Letsbefrank. Jim Goldie sends him down from Scotland, and with Lauren Young taking off 5lb, he stays forever. At around 50-1, he is an each-way bet to nothing.

Haatem goes well on the Rowley Mile and returned to form last month when winning a valuable race in Kentucky. Ryan Moore gets the ride in the Modern Games Darley Stakes.

Zetland and Autumn Stakes

Mark Johnston won the Native Trail Zetland Stakes five times, and son Charlie aims to bag his first with Bowdens. He made an impressive winning debut at Hamilton in bad ground and has been largely ignored in the market at 22-1.

Rock Montreal has a big reputation in the Roger Varian yard and, after a nice winning debut, narrowly failed to reel in Forbidden Fire in a Listed race at Doncaster. He can go one better in the Group Three Emirates Autumn Stakes.

York and Chepstow selections

ITV are showing three races from York where the ground is certain to be on the slow side. Dubai Champion chased home Mussab at Ayr and gets the vote in the Sky Bet Rockingham Stakes, while the unexposed Nobody Knows should enjoy conditions in the Sky Bet For The Fans Handicap.

Fine Interview should go very well in the Sky Bet Sprint Trophy with Jack Nicholls, fresh from winning the Prix de l’Abbaye on Miss Yechance, taking off a useful 3lb.

Elsewhere, Masked Man is the nap to win the Wasdell Group Silver Trophy at Chepstow for the in-form Nigel and Willy Twiston Davies. He won first time out last season and scored three times from five starts. Gallivanted also appeals for Harry Derham off bottom weight in the Paul Ferguson’s Jumpers To Follow Four Years Old Hurdle.

Watch out for National Anthem, who is making his debut at York and is very highly regarded by the John and Thady Gosden yard.

Future winners

State of Wyoming caught the eye last time, and Paddy Twomey’s colt is well entered up next week in Ireland. Shared Odyssey was flagged two weeks ago and has since come second at 20-1. Entered at Nottingham on Wednesday, he will win races.
