In a staggering feat of human endurance and spirit, two British brothers have etched their names into the history books by conquering the vast Pacific Ocean in a rowboat. Euan and Jamie Fraser from Greater Manchester have officially broken the world record for rowing from South America to Australia, a monumental journey that tested their limits every single day.
The Ultimate Challenge: 10,000 Miles of Open Ocean
Their epic adventure began on the coast of Peru, from which they launched their specially designed rowing boat into the unforgiving waters. Their destination: the sun-drenched shores of Cairns, Australia. For an astonishing 154 days, 13 hours, and 30 minutes, the Fraser brothers battled the elements, taking turns to row in a relentless two-hours-on, two-hours-off schedule that ran around the clock.
Sustained by Pizza: The Unconventional Survival Diet
One of the most remarkable aspects of their voyage was their unique sustenance strategy. The brothers revealed that their primary food source was a colossal stash of ‘adventure pizza’ – a dehydrated meal that could be revived with water. This unconventional yet calorie-dense fuel provided them with the energy needed to power through the immense physical challenge.
Euan Fraser recounted the mental toll, stating, "The biggest challenge was the sleep deprivation. Your body can cope with the rowing, but the lack of sleep... it does funny things to your mind." He described surreal hallucinations, including seeing a full-sized pirate ship materialise on the horizon.

They navigated through a notorious cyclone season, endured a terrifying lightning storm that struck their boat, and had a heart-stopping close encounter with a colossal tanker that came within metres of their tiny vessel. The isolation was profound, with Jamie describing the overwhelming sensation of being "a tiny speck in this massive, massive ocean."
