Newsboy's nap for Monday is ANOTHER ABBOT (7.15) in the Fitzdares Sprint Series Final Handicap over six furlongs at Windsor. The feature race of the day sees 16 runners, with at least half holding a realistic chance.
The four-year-old son of Harry Angel is a quirky sort, often taken down to post early and wears earplugs, but he ticks many boxes. Giving lumps of weight, he battled gamely to hold off Neyva's Angel by a head at Yarmouth in May, finishing six-and-a-half lengths clear of the rest of the eight-runner field.
Return to form at Windsor
After a couple of indifferent runs, he bounced back to form for William Haggas over today's course and distance a fortnight ago, winning with more in hand than the three-quarters-of-a-length margin over Sudden Flight suggested. Tom Marquand is back on board with 4lb extra to carry, but a repeat of that run should secure the £41,000 first prize.
Star Cast targets hat-trick
STAR CAST (3.15) bids for a hat-trick in the Ladbrokes "Get More With Ladbucks" Handicap at Ayr over 1m2f. Gemma Tutty's four-year-old has been given a break following a comfortable two-and-a-quarter-length success under apprentice jockey Jake Dickson over today's track and trip. That win came on soft ground, and with some give in the ground this afternoon, another strong run is expected from the same pairing.
