The Met Office has issued a new forecast indicating that temperatures are likely to soar again at the beginning of August, with warnings that the weather could become "very warm again" early next month.
The forecaster said that while the weather will "see a mixture of bright or sunny spells and some rain," the beginning of August could again bring temperatures that will be "above normal." The south of England is set to be one of the warmest areas again, while the north of the UK is "more likely to see the focus of rainfall."
Full Forecast for Late July to Early August
The full forecast for the Met Office, covering the period from 26 July to 4 August, reads: "A changeable period is likely overall, with many areas likely to see a mixture of bright or sunny spells and some rain at times. Northwestern areas are more likely to see the focus of rainfall, but southeastern areas should also see some showers.
"Confidence becomes lower as we approach the turn of the month, but there are hints that high pressure could return for a time, which would mean dry conditions resuming, especially in the south.
"Winds will be mostly light or moderate, but occasionally fresh or strong around some coasts, mainly in the north. Temperatures will be near or above normal, warmest in the south, and perhaps becoming very warm again by the start of August."
Rain Expected Later This Week
This comes after forecasters warned several areas of the UK could face rain later this week. On Saturday, July 25, rain could hit areas of Scotland, Northern Ireland and northern England after a period of dry and warm weather, Met Office maps show.
Scotland, as well as the north and north east of England, are likely to be the most affected areas according to the latest weather maps issued by the forecaster. Some areas of north Wales could also be hit, as weather conditions continue to be unsettled, with both sunny spells and showers affecting the country.
But rain could also fall as scattered showers today (Wednesday, July 22) as a low-pressure system is predicted to bring showers to much of the country at the end of this month.
