Met Issues Thunderstorm Warning for 75 UK Areas Friday

The Met Office has issued a new yellow weather warning for thunderstorms and lightning that could bring disruption to as many as 75 UK areas from midnight on Friday morning. The forecaster warns of a slight chance of power cuts, lightning strikes, and flooding.

Warning Details

The warning is in effect for 10 hours, starting at midnight on Friday. The Met Office stated: "Many areas missing the worst, but thunderstorms could bring disruption in places during Thursday night and into Friday morning." This warning is in addition to a separate yellow warning for more than 30 areas of Scotland issued for Friday.

Potential Impacts

The Met Office warns of possible travel disruption, including delays to train and bus services, as well as potential flooding of homes and businesses. Lightning strikes could cause damage to buildings and infrastructure. Power cuts are also a slight possibility.
