Clive Owen marked his "last day" on the farm in a repeat of Our Farm Next Door, where he opened up about the tough decision to have hip surgery that required him to temporarily step away from his beloved farm.
Speaking directly to viewers, Clive said: "I don't want folk to think I just stand around and ponder."
Hospital admission and nerves
He revealed: "Tomorrow, I have got to be in hospital for half 7 in the morning for a new hip. So, I wouldn't say I am really looking forward to it, but that is what's going to happen, so this is my last day for a little while."
Clive was candid about his nerves, confessing: "I am going to be a bit nervous, but I am alright with it, I'll do exactly what they tell me, and the next thing you wake up and it's done. I have had one you see so I know the procedure, like it or not that is what is happening tomorrow."
The episode also shows Clive briefing his sons on how to keep the farm ticking over during his absence. Ever the joker despite his predicament, Clive admitted: "I have definitely been a horrible patient because I am impatient."
Handing over the reins
He was full of gratitude for his sons' support throughout his recovery: "I couldn't have managed without these lads to do what needed doing. So yeah, they have done very well."
Clive hinted that his sons could retain their leadership positions, saying: "It means from now on they needn't hand the reins back to me, they can just carry on." He quipped about what might lie ahead for him, "I could find myself redundant," before turning to his son and asking, "What do you think, Miley?"
He stressed the significance of working together on a family farm: "That is what family farms are all about, everybody has to help."
