The search, now shifted to a recovery mission, has been punctuated by the discovery of his final, desperate text message.
Gardner's last known communication was a chilling message sent to his father on Sunday, September 15th. It simply read: "no service if you need me" – a stark warning that he was venturing beyond the reach of help and a poignant final connection to his family.
A Fateful Solo Expedition
An experienced and passionate outdoorsman, Gardner embarked on what was intended to be a solo hunting and camping expedition in the rugged terrain west of Sheridan.
