The teenager had been swimming with friends on Wednesday afternoon when powerful rip currents pulled him under. His father, who had been keeping watch from the beach, immediately raised the alarm as he witnessed his son struggling against the treacherous waters.
Dramatic Rescue Attempt
Emergency services including coastguard teams, lifeboats and the police helicopter scrambled to the scene. Paramedics performed CPR on the boy for over an hour before he was airlifted to the Princess of Wales Hospital in Bridgend, where he was tragically pronounced dead.
