A restaurant in Lancashire has flooded for the second time in three years after a water main burst nearby in the early hours of this morning (August 25). Emergency services were called to Nellie at Scarisbrick when it was found submerged by flood water after a pipe burst on Southport Road at around 3.50am.

Footage shows water pouring into the Indian restaurant, with inches of water covering much of the restaurant and surrounding area, Lancs Live reports. Live footage shared on the Nellie at Scarisbrick Facebook page captured the scale of the flooding. In one clip, a man can be heard saying: "flooded again. Oh my God, look at all this." In another video, he adds: "This is insane. I can't believe this."
Emergency crews at the scene
Pictures taken later in the morning showed emergency crews at the scene as they worked to tackle the flooding. Firefighters pumped water into a nearby canal in a bid to prevent further flooding, using a range of specialist equipment. United Utilities said a "small" number of properties had been affected by the burst water main.
A spokesperson for the water company told LancsLive: "Our team is on-site responding to a burst water main in Southport Road, Scarisbrick. Unfortunately, the incident has resulted in flooding to a small number of properties."
"We are contacting customers directly to offer advice and support and have mobilised specialist loss adjusters. To enable teams to work safely it is necessary to close the road in both directions."
"We are working with the local authority and the police to arrange a diversion route, but we are advising motorists to avoid the area if possible. We apologise for the disruption."
Fire service response
A spokesperson for Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said: "At 3.50am on August 25, 2026, firefighters attended Southport Road to support United Utilities with a burst main pipe which resulted in flooding."
"Firefighters used an environmental grab pack, two mini ejector pumps, one light portable pump, and three main jets to pump water to a nearby canal, to prevent further flooding."
