A major search operation is underway off the coast of Pembrokeshire for a teenage boy who went missing after getting into difficulty in the water at Marloes Sands on Sunday afternoon. As of Monday afternoon, the boy remains unaccounted for.
Incident at Marloes Sands
At around 3pm on Sunday, three people got into difficulty in the water off Marloes Sands. Two of the three people self-rescued, while one person, understood to be a teenage boy, remains missing.
HM Coastguard received a report at approximately 3.30pm on Sunday that three people were in difficulties in the water requiring assistance at Marloes, Pembrokeshire. A spokesperson at HM Coastguard Dale confirmed that a search is ongoing for the missing teenage boy.
Emergency response
Dyfed-Powys Police asked the public to avoid Marloes Sands due to an ongoing incident just before 6pm on Sunday. Pictures show a major police presence in the area alongside a coastguard helicopter, an HM Coastguard fixed wing aircraft, RNLI boats and the Welsh Ambulance Service.
The search was suspended at 3.30am on Monday morning but has since resumed. Broad Haven, Dale and St Davids Coastguard, supported by Angle and Littlehaven RNLI lifeboats, and the area 13 drone team are all involved in the search on Monday.
