Flash floods triggered by torrential rain in Nepal and Tibet have killed dozens of people, the Red Cross has said, as rescue teams search for survivors.
Deadly floods across the region
The floods struck several districts in Nepal and the neighbouring Tibet region of China, destroying homes and washing away roads and bridges. The Red Cross said the death toll had risen to at least 50, with many more people still missing.
Rescuers, including Red Cross teams, have been working to reach isolated villages cut off by the floodwaters. Helicopters have been deployed to airlift stranded residents and deliver emergency supplies to affected areas.
Rescue efforts and growing needs
Local authorities and humanitarian agencies are coordinating relief operations, providing shelter, food and clean water to displaced families. The Red Cross warned that the full scale of the disaster is still emerging as floodwaters recede and access to remote areas improves.
The flooding is the latest in a series of weather-related disasters to hit the Himalayan region this year, raising concerns about the impact of climate change on vulnerable mountain communities.
