Flash floods at the Grand Canyon have killed at least one person, with several others missing and hundreds of visitors evacuated, authorities said.
Flooding hits popular hiking area
The flooding occurred in Havasu Canyon, a popular hiking destination known for its turquoise pools and waterfalls, after intense thunderstorms dumped heavy rain upstream. The National Park Service said the floodwaters swept through the area, trapping hikers and forcing a large-scale rescue operation.
Rescue efforts underway
Search and rescue teams, including helicopters, have been deployed to locate missing individuals and assist stranded hikers. About 100 people were evacuated from the canyon, while more than 100 others remained at a ranger station awaiting extraction.

One person was confirmed dead, and the park service reported that several individuals were unaccounted for. The flash flood also caused significant damage to trails and infrastructure in the canyon.
