The Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment is testing bespoke camouflage it has developed to improve concealment techniques for future operational environments.
Annual Summer Camp tests
Newly shared images show the regiment using its annual Summer Camp at Longmoor Training Area in Hampshire to test how horses and cavalry skills could support military operations.
The Ministry of Defence (MoD) said: "Soldiers are exploring mounted reconnaissance, mobility in difficult terrain, concealment, sustainment and equine welfare, drawing inspiration from allied nations that continue to employ horses in operational environments."
Allied inspiration
The MoD said the United States maintains an expeditionary mounted and pack-horse capability for potential deployment in austere environments "following the 9/11 attacks in 2001, special forces deployed to Afghanistan to conduct missions against the Taliban."
