Reform UK insiders have suggested a general election could be declared as soon as December, with senior party figures expecting it to take place within three months. They believe Labour must call an early election or risk losing support.
David Bull: Labour 'running scared'
Dr David Bull, the former Reform chairman, said he believes Labour are “running scared” and that an early election is more likely than not within the next 12 months. Speaking at the annual Reform party conference, he said: “I think Labour have to call an early election or face losing it all.
“They are running scared, and the Reform Party will be here ready to go. Not only do we need to be ready to go with the election, but also in what we do when we get to power.
“We need to have a fully costed, fully workable plan ready to go to hit the ground running, and that is what we are talking about over this conference, what we will do in our first 100 days of power.”
Leadership speculation grows
Insiders claim an election could be announced on December 12. Separate sources also suggest a leadership contest may be approaching within Reform.
Top insiders told the Daily Star they expect Zia Yusuf to make a bid to replace Nigel Farage imminently. They said: “Zia is preparing for a Reform UK leadership election within the next three months. He is teeing himself up and Nigel needs to watch his back.
“You’ll notice he has stayed very far away from backing him at the conference, despite everyone else fully pushing their backing to Nigel and the party as a whole. You just have to look at his social media to see his plan.”
Yusuf's conference video raises eyebrows
On the first day of the conference, Yusuf posted a long video of himself and “his story” of how he made it as a politician. Followers appeared to draw the same conclusion, with one writing: “The sooner Nigel sees this is a campaign to take over, the better,” while another added: “This is a leadership bid, make no mistake.”
