Thousands of homes in north London have been left without water due to a burst pipe in Muswell Hill. The issue, first reported at around 6:45pm on Monday, has caused low pressure or no water at all across several postcodes.
Affected areas and repair efforts
Thames Water is working to fix the problem on Woodside Avenue in Muswell Hill, but households in the N6, N19, NW2, NW3, NW6, and NW11 postcodes are still experiencing disruption. Woodside Avenue will remain closed while teams attend to the burst pipe, and it is not yet clear when repairs will be completed.
A Thames Water spokesperson said: "Our teams remain on site and are continuing work to repair a burst water main on Woodside Avenue."
Restoration progress and customer support
Teams worked overnight and made several network changes to help restore supplies, significantly reducing the number of customers without water. Most customers remain in supply, although some may experience lower pressure than usual, and short interruptions may occur during periods of higher demand.
Thames Water plans to open a bottled water station this morning to support affected customers, with location and opening times to be confirmed. Bottled water deliveries are also being arranged for customers on the Priority Services Register who may need additional assistance.
Council response
In a post on X, Camden Council said it was "aware some residents in Camden may currently be without water" and added it was in contact with Thames Water. An update is expected later this morning.
