Emergency services launch rescue operation at Falls of Falloch

A major multi-agency rescue operation is underway to locate a woman who got into difficulty in the water at Falls of Falloch, a popular beauty spot in north Stirlingshire. Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene late on Friday evening after police received a report of a woman in distress in the water.

The alarm was raised around 11.45pm on Friday, 10 July 2026. Police Scotland, along with fire crews from Garelochhead and Killin, ambulance services, and Oban and Stirling water rescue units, are conducting a water search at the site near Crianlarich.

Multi-agency response coordinated

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 11.45pm on Friday, 10 July, 2026, we received a report of a woman in difficulty in the water at Falls of Falloch, Crianlarich. Emergency services are at the scene, and water searches are being carried out.”

Killin Fire Station posted on Facebook: “Appliance was mobilised last night at 10.45pm along with Garelochhead appliance and Oban and Stirling water rescue units to attend a water rescue incident at the Falls of Falloch near Crianlarich. This was a multi agency response that included Police, Ambulance, and Ambulance SORT teams who all worked together throughout this incident.”

Ongoing search efforts

The search operation continued through the night and into Saturday morning. The Falls of Falloch is a scenic waterfall on the River Falloch, popular with tourists and hikers. The area can be hazardous, especially near the water. Further updates are expected as the search progresses.
