Five people have been killed and 87 are believed to be missing after a passenger ferry burst into flames on a journey to Coron, a popular tourist destination in the Philippines.
Ferry engulfed in flames
The vessel, the MV June Aster, was carrying 134 people, including 117 passengers and 17 crew members, when the fire broke out. The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) shared a video showing the ferry completely engulfed by flames.
Rescue operation underway
A search and rescue operation is ongoing, with 42 people already rescued. The PCG has confirmed that 87 people are currently unaccounted for.
