Six people were rushed to hospital after a party boat crashed into a pylon off a popular beach in Australia on Saturday evening. The incident happened at Moondarewa Spit at Main Beach on the Gold Coast at about 7pm on September 19, when 21 people were on board.
Eight assessed by paramedics
Eight people were assessed by paramedics, with six of them taken to hospital. Two women in their 20s were also treated by paramedics, one of them after falling off the boat. It is understood that all those with injuries are in a stable condition.
Details of the injured
A man in his 20s with facial injuries was taken in a stable condition to Gold Coast University Hospital. A woman in her 20s with a head injury was also taken there in a stable condition, along with another woman in her 20s with shoulder and neck pain and a woman in her 20s with an arm injury.
A man in his 30s with neck pain and a woman in her 20s with a shoulder injury were taken in a stable condition to Gold Coast Robina Hospital.
No other injuries reported
Brisbane Times reports that no one else on board the boat was injured in the crash. A police spokesperson said the injuries were understood to be minor, such as nose bleeds and concussions.
