EasyJet flight EZY3439 from Liverpool John Lennon Airport to Malta was forced to return to Liverpool on Tuesday morning after a passenger onboard required urgent medical attention. The flight departed at 6.05am and was due to land in Malta at around 10.30am, but diverted back to Merseyside approximately 15 minutes after take-off.
Medical emergency prompts diversion
The airline confirmed that the flight returned to Liverpool due to a customer needing urgent medical care. Upon arrival, medical services met the passenger. The flight was scheduled to continue to Malta later in the morning.
In a statement, an easyJet spokesperson said: "Flight EZY3439 from Liverpool to Malta this morning returned to Liverpool, due to a customer onboard requiring urgent medical attention. The customer was met by medical services on arrival and the flight will continue to Malta later this morning. The safety and wellbeing of our customers and crew is always easyJet’s highest priority."
Flight tracking shows diversion
FlightRadar24 air traffic data showed the aircraft's route as it turned back towards Liverpool. The incident occurred amid routine operations at the airport, with no further disruptions reported.
