A 2.2 magnitude earthquake was recorded in Grimsby, Lincolnshire, on Tuesday evening (August 25), according to the British Geological Survey.
Tremor Felt Across East Coast Town
Local residents in the east coast town, as well as in nearby Cleethorpes and surrounding areas, reported feeling the tremor just before 7.50pm. The earthquake's depth was recorded at 5km.
Residents took to social media to report feeling 'shakes' and 'rumbles' during the event.
Residents Describe the Experience
One resident said: "I felt what felt like a really quick shake in my house, I thought something heavy had fallen down upstairs or in the loft."
Another commented: "Felt a bang like the house being hit." A person wrote on Facebook: "Felt the house shake and rumble."
Another resident reported: "I heard a deep rumble, I thought it was thunder."
