With Halloween approaching, some of the year's creepiest sights are lurking millions of light-years away, as NASA Universe has shared a collection of spooky cosmic images ahead of October 31. The set features everything from ghostly eyes to a screaming skull, with four pictures appearing to show mysterious eyes staring directly back at viewers.
NASA Universe Highlights Spooky Cosmic Views
NASA Universe posed the question, 'Do you ever get the feeling you're being watched?' The agency noted that even though these cosmic objects are millions of light-years away, they can still send shivers down spines when found staring back at us.
A gallery compiled by content agency SWNS also features bizarre sights from across the universe, including an image of the Sun that resembles a grinning Halloween pumpkin, with swirling plasma forming shapes like two eyes and a mouth.
From a Screaming Skull to a Face on Mars
Another image shows what appears to be a screaming skull in the Perseus Cluster, while a huge red eye-like shape is visible as the planet Fomalhaut b orbits its parent star. Even Mars joins the spooky season, with one image appearing to show a gigantic face staring out from the planet's surface.
