BBC presenter Laura Kuenssberg has claimed she once found a government minister waiting in bed for her with his partner, telling The Times it looked like he “wanted a threesome”.
The Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg host, 50, said she was expecting to meet the minister and an adviser in his hotel room for a professional meeting at a party political conference. When she arrived, the MP was allegedly lying on the bed with “some shirt buttons undone”, alongside his partner.
Alleged Hotel Room Encounter
The Times asked Kuenssberg if the pair were “after a threesome”, and she said she thought they might have been, adding: “Well, maybe they were and maybe they weren’t. As I say, maybe they weren’t and I got it completely wrong. It was very uncomfortable.”
She said she “quickly finished her drink and left”.
Concerns for Young People in Westminster
Kuenssberg voiced her “concern” for young people starting out in Westminster and in UK politics, adding: “Sometimes people behave badly.”
She said another married minister asked her to the theatre and tried “a little grope”, while someone else “kissed her on the head repeatedly”. She recalled: “That was just weird. I never felt threatened. But it’s just a strange thing to do.”
Kuenssberg said: “People do things. And human behaviour is a complicated thing and sometimes people behave badly. There is still a concern in Westminster that particularly young people starting out are sometimes very vulnerable.”
Broader Context and Reaction
A 2018 cross-party report found that around one in five people working in Parliament said they had been sexually harassed or witnessed inappropriate behaviour.
Piers Morgan reacted to Kuenssberg’s latest interview, simply tweeting: “Whoa…” with a row of fire emojis.
