Google's TV Streamer 4K is now available for £83.09 through a TopCashback deal, making it more than £215 cheaper than Apple's £299 Apple TV 4K while offering similar premium streaming features.
Premium Streaming at a Fraction of the Price
Apple recently launched its updated Apple TV 4K, featuring an A19 chip for up to 50% faster response times, ultra-sharp 4K resolution with Dolby Vision and HDR10+, and support for various home surround sound systems with Siri integration. Priced at £299, the device offers crisp audio and sharp quality but may put off budget-conscious shoppers.
The Google TV Streamer 4K provides a premium interface, 4K Dolby Vision for vibrant picture quality, and hands-free voice-activation features. Through TopCashback, new users can get £15 cashback when they spend more than £15, bringing the effective price down to £83.09. Existing Argos members new to TopCashback will pay slightly more at £83.59. The price includes free click and collect, or shoppers can pay a £4.95 delivery fee.
Comparing Rivals: Google vs Apple vs Amazon
Amazon's Fire TV Stick 4K Max, priced at £99.99, also offers lower-cost TV upgrades with Wi-Fi 6E support, smart tech integration, and faster TV programmes via Alexa+. The Google TV Streamer can be paired with Google Home Speakers and security gadgets like Google Nest Cameras to watch footage on a TV screen, similar to how Apple TV 4K works with devices like the new Apple HomeView, though at a much lower cost.
Shoppers should note the Google TV Streamer's smaller 32GB of memory, which is ideal for TV streaming apps like BBC iPlayer, Disney+, and Netflix, but not for gaming.
User Reviews Highlight Seamless Streaming
One Google TV user praised the device: “The interface feels lightweight. There’s no stuttering. Great app compatibility. 4K at 60fps runs beautifully.” Another shopper called it a “great bit of kit for seamless streaming,” while a different user said: “Love this streamer. It was fairly expensive but cheaper than buying a new TV. It's so fast and easy to use. I love it.”
One shopper noted the cost increase compared to the old Chromecast: “Even though the unit cost twice the old 1080p Chromecast, I had to buy a high-quality HDMI cable separately, but after that, setup was easy. The picture is better, even on a non-4K TV; digital sound latency synchronisation required 0 delay against 30msec with the Chromecast. Updated itself seamlessly and now has Gemini if AI is your thing.”
New TopCashback members should register via the link, search for Argos, select 'Get Cashback Now', and buy the Google TV Streamer 4K. Cashback should track and appear in TopCashback accounts within seven working days of purchase.
