A consortium led by Canadian businessman Eric Perez has launched a bid to take control of Stirling Albion, with plans for a £1 million investment into the club.
The proposal was unveiled to members of the Stirling Albion Supporters Trust on Friday, with the consortium set to secure around 80 per cent of the club's shares. Perez, who owns English club Truro City and Irish Premiership side Larne, has a recent track record in British football.
Investment and staffing plans
Documents seen by the Observer state the plans would see £1 million invested into Albion, with the cash introduced in “agreed tranches”. The takeover would also see the installation of full-time staff, including a full-time general manager handling day-to-day operations and a commercial lead responsible for marketing the club.
Perez has also vowed to use the “networks” available through the consortium to develop the club's links to markets in North America.
Trust protections and next steps
The proposal includes a 'golden share', maintaining the Trust's veto over key aspects of Albion's identity, including the name, badge and colours, as well as their continued presence in Scottish football.
Fans will have the opportunity to meet Perez at a Trust meeting on November 27, with a vote to ratify the deal following that session. If approved, the next step would be to secure approval from the SPFL and SFA.
In a statement published on Friday, the club confirmed the proposal had been issued to shareholders and Trust members, noting it “remains subject to the necessary approvals” and that “no change of ownership has taken place”. Stirling Albion has been a majority fan-owned club since 2010, with the Trust and the club's board signing the 'Working Together Agreement' in February 2023.
