007 First Light PC specs corrected: RAM & VRAM requirements significantly lowered
007 First Light PC requirements corrected after error

PC gamers anticipating the next James Bond adventure can relax about needing a supercomputer to run it. Developer IO Interactive has issued a significant correction to the official PC system requirements for 007 First Light, admitting the initial specifications were mistakenly high due to an internal error.

Corrected Specifications Bring Relief

The studio confirmed it is the second time it has revealed the PC specifications for the upcoming action prequel. This follows the gaming community spotting major inconsistencies in the first set of specs published by the developer.

In a statement, IO Interactive explained the situation: "We are providing today an update to the PC system requirements for 007 First Light after the community flagged some inconsistencies in an earlier version of the listing. The earlier mistake was due to an internal miscommunication leading to an older version of the specs to be shared."

What Has Actually Changed?

The revised requirements are substantially more forgiving for most gaming setups. After what the developer calls a "thorough re-examination and additional testing," the key changes are:

  • Recommended RAM has been dramatically reduced from a hefty 32 GB to a far more standard and reasonable 16GB.
  • Recommended Video RAM (VRAM) has also been cut down, moving from 12GB to 8GB.
  • Even the minimum VRAM requirement has seen a decrease, dropping from 8GB to 6GB.

The developer also confirmed it has fixed the minimum CPU specification line, which was part of the erroneous original listing.

Looking Ahead to Launch

IO Interactive has apologised for the confusion, stating: "We’re sorry for the confusion this caused and appreciate everyone who brought it to our attention." The studio confirmed that the accurate specifications are now live on all official digital store pages.

For players keen on optimising their experience, the developer promised that more detailed performance targets will be shared closer to the game's release. 007 First Light is now scheduled to launch on May 27, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. This date itself represents a two-month delay from an original planned release date of March 27.

The game, which acts as a prequel, will follow a young James Bond on a globe-trotting mission to earn his 00 status. It is expected to blend the meticulous sandbox design of IO's Hitman series with more cinematic, action-oriented sequences reminiscent of titles like Uncharted.
