iOS 11 Update Triggers iPhone Battery Drain Complaints

Apple's latest iOS 11 update has sparked a wave of complaints from iPhone users reporting significant battery drain. Social media is flooded with users claiming their devices are losing power much faster than with previous iOS versions.

One user reported their iPhone dropping from 100% to 85% in about an hour, while another noted that iOS 11 'really kills' their iPhone 6s battery. Express.co.uk also observed battery issues, with four minutes of Mail app usage consuming roughly 12% of battery life.

However, experts note that such battery drain is common after major iOS updates. The phone often works harder in the first few days, re-indexing data and installing app updates. The new Photos app also processes images locally to generate Memories, which can strain the battery.

Users are advised to wait a few days before judging battery performance, as the system typically stabilises after completing background tasks. Performance may also temporarily drop during this period.
