The Bowflex SelectTech dumbbells, a compact set that replaces 15 pairs of weights, are now available at a discount of up to 18% for Prime Day, according to a personal trainer who uses them at home.
The trainer, who earned certification in 2021, says the set offers a range of five to 52.5lb in one package. The dumbbells are priced at $328 at Amazon, down from $400.
Why the Trainer Recommends Them
The trainer highlights benefits such as injury reduction, disease prevention, increased bone density, and better longevity. The compact 17in x 8in footprint eliminates the need for a bulky weight rack. Adjustment dials allow for easy weight changes, helping maintain momentum during hypertrophy training.
The hexagonal shape of the discs supports movements like renegade rows and weighted push-ups, unlike rounded discs on other weights. The trainer notes the grip feels natural, neither too traction-heavy nor too forgiving.
Safety and Buying Advice
The trainer advises buying new, noting older models have been recalled due to weight plates dislodging from the handle. The latest edition includes a new safety mechanism with a metal locking disc positioned on the handle to reinforce each weight.
The trainer, also a shopping writer, says they feel confident recommending the new model and plan to purchase it themselves at the current low price.
