Apple's upcoming event on Wednesday, October 28, is expected to spotlight new MacBook Pro laptops, potentially featuring an OLED touchscreen for the first time in the company's laptop lineup.
The event, titled "Pro and tell," follows a busy period for the tech giant, which recently launched its first foldable phone, the iPhone Duo, teased updates to its TV box and HomePod speakers, and introduced a new gadget called HomeView for smart home controls. Just yesterday, a new iPad mini was showcased with a faster processor, a bigger display, and a water-resistant design.
Touchscreen MacBook Rumors
After years of resisting the idea, Apple could finally let MacBook owners tap and swipe directly on their screens, similar to the iPhone and iPad. Touchscreens have long been standard on many Windows laptops, so the move would bring Apple's premium portable computers in line with rivals and offer a new way to interact with macOS.
Adding fuel to the rumors is Apple's event invitation, which appears to show the company's logo being drawn with a finger. While not a confirmation, it has sparked discussion among fans.
Other Expected Upgrades
The new Pro laptops are also expected to feature faster processors, improved battery life, and a slimmer, lighter design. There is speculation that Apple could bring its iPhone-style Dynamic Island to the MacBook, displaying alerts and other information in a pop-up area on the screen.
Beyond the MacBook Pro, Apple is tipped to update its desktop iMac with a faster processor, a refreshed design, and new colours.
The event begins at 8pm GMT, with full coverage of announcements to follow.
