If you've ever noticed lint and pet hair on your clothes, this simple hack could significantly reduce fluff and keep your laundry cleaner.

The Laundry Hack That Eliminates Lint Rollers

Keeping your wardrobe looking immaculate might appear straightforward, yet garments can accumulate dust, lint, fluff and pet dander simply through everyday wear. The realities of daily life mean our clothing can become a magnet for all manner of unwanted debris.

Rather than reaching for a lint roller and repeatedly brushing yourself down, cleaning expert Chantel Mila has revealed a laundry trick that eliminates the need for any extra steps. The TikTok creator, widely known as Mama Mila, recently unveiled three of the most trusted cleaning hacks that she believes everybody ought to know.

When it comes to tackling pet dander and stubborn fluff that clings to your clothing, there's no longer any need to fuss about with a lint roller or Sellotape to get rid of it.

How the Baby Wipe Trick Works

Instead, the solution lies in adding one common bathroom staple to your washing machine during your regular laundry cycle. Simply toss a wet wipe into the load and watch it draw away irritating fluff and pet hairs from your garments, reports The Mirror.

Chantel wrote in the video's caption: "Remove pet hair and fluff from your clothes by adding a baby wipe to your load. The baby wipe creates static that attracts the hair and fluff, so it stays away from your clothes."

Placing a wet wipe inside a washing machine assists in eliminating lint, pet hair and fluff by functioning as a magnet that draws fibres in during a standard wash cycle. The wipe's texture and friction, combined with its moisture, bind loose particles and prevent debris from reattaching itself to your clothing.

It functions in much the same manner as a dryer sheet would when placed in the washing machine. Based on the load size, you ought to add between one and three wet wipes into the washing machine drum, according to PetBook.

Testing the Hack

Margeaux Baulch Klein put the hack to the test for 10 News San Diego. She said: "The wipe certainly picked up a lot of dog hair. However, it didn't magically attract every piece of lint in the washing machine to it like a magnet, so the seat cover still had some hairs sticking to it - although significantly less than before.

"Considering the size of the seat cover and how dirty it was, I would still say that this hack was a win. And, in the future, I would try adding more than one wipe to the wash to boost the cleaning power."

Overall, this seems like a great laundry hack. While the lint traps and dryer sheets basically do the same thing, this trick is ideal for delicate clothes that require air-drying since it removes loose pet hair, lint and dirt in the washing machine, rather than the dryer. Plus, it leaves clothes visibly cleaner, so you have much less to brush out with a lint roller.

Precautions to Consider

Nevertheless, specialists at PetBook cautioned people to exercise care when using wet wipes in the washing machine. The specialists pointed out that because wet wipes are made from soft materials, they may "decompose" at high temperatures.

Make sure your washing cycle is set to a low temperature to prevent any potential problems. The experts said: "Simple, effective, and without additional devices–the trick with wet wipes can indeed help remove pesky pet hair from laundry.

"However, environmentally conscious individuals should not use it permanently but as an occasional solution for particularly 'hairy cases.'"
