The BBC Scottish drama Granite Harbour concluded its third season with a dramatic finale that unmasked the true killer behind the deaths of Lisa Stirling, Matty Grough, and Richard Loughty. The episode, aired on Friday, August 7, delivered multiple unexpected twists as the investigation reached its climax.
The confession and the truth
Initially, traveller liaison officer Alex (Thoren Ferguson) handed over Matty's bag, found in Shelley's (Emma Hartley-Miller) caravan. Under questioning, Shelley confessed to all three murders, claiming she killed Lisa in a row over bullying, stabbed Matty to silence him, and fatally fought with Loughty over a letter. However, the police soon discovered inconsistencies, including Matty's body having been moved, which Shelley physically couldn't have done.
The breakthrough came when a lion tattoo on Alex's chest matched a drawing in Lisa's journal, revealing he was her secret boyfriend 'Leo'. Shelley then admitted Alex was actually Noah's father, hidden due to his non-traveller status.
The real killer exposed
On the night of Rose's party, Alex followed Lisa into the woods to end their relationship. Noah, listening in, saw Lisa encourage Matty to film the confrontation to ruin Alex. In a fit of anger, Noah pushed Lisa, causing her fatal head injury. Alex then stabbed Matty with a dagger to protect his son, and later fought with Loughty, leading to his accidental death.
