Altay Bayindir has sent a goodbye message to Manchester United after completing a move away from the club. He has signed for Celta Vigo on a season-long loan.
Loan details and fees
The Spanish side also have the option to make the move permanent for a £3.5 million fee next summer. Bayindir’s wages will be covered by his loan club, with United also receiving performance-related bonuses and a high sell-on percentage if the deal becomes permanent.
The club confirmed the move on Friday, with the goalkeeper on search for more regular game time. He was a backup to Senne Lammens last season and played just six games during the campaign.
Bayindir's farewell message
He has spent three seasons at United after signing from Turkish side Fenerbahce for a fee of £4.3 million. Following the confirmation of his exit, Bayindir took to social media to say his goodbyes to the club and United fans.
Along with pictures and videos from his time at Old Trafford, he wrote: “Thank you for every chant, every message and every moment we have shared. Your support means a lot to me and I’ll carry it with me throughout this next chapter of my life. I’ll miss Old Trafford but this is not goodbye.
“Wishing a successful season to everyone at the club, my heart and support will always be with you. See you soon Reds!”
Replacement and other moves
The post was ‘liked’ by several of his United teammates, including Bruno Fernandes and Harry Maguire. Academy graduate Toby Collyer also replied with a red heart emoji.
Amid speculation over Bayindir’s future, United have already brought in a potential replacement. The club completed the signing of Karl Darlow on a free transfer earlier this summer.
The 35-year-old has spent the last three years at Leeds United, but was available for nothing following the expiry of his contract earlier this summer. He will be a backup to Lammens.
It comes after Andre Onana re-joined Trabzonspor on loan, and Radek Vitek is set to join Championship side Middlesbrough as he also searches for regular first-team football.
