Home cook's favourite method for juicy air fryer sausages

A home cook has revealed her preferred method for cooking sausages, which she says consistently produces juicy, golden-brown results with minimal effort. The technique involves using an air fryer, which she claims is the most effortless method and yields the finest outcomes.

Why the air fryer wins

According to the cook, the air fryer delivers sausages with a pleasing golden colour and slight crispness on the outside, while the interior remains moist and tender. Unlike frying or grilling, this method requires little to no oil, as sausages already contain sufficient fat. The excess fat drains away into the basket rather than pooling around the sausages during cooking.

How to cook sausages in an air fryer

The cook recommends preheating the appliance and arranging the sausages in a single layer with a small gap between each one to allow for even cooking. Cramming too many in can hinder air circulation and browning, so using two drawers if available is advised. The sausages should be cooked at approximately 180°C, rotating them midway through. Cooking times vary with size and variety, typically ranging from 10 to 15 minutes.

To ensure they are thoroughly cooked, the cook suggests using a meat thermometer. After cooking, the sausages should rest for a few minutes before serving. There is no need to pierce the skins, as keeping them intact preserves the juices.
