GHD Sculpt Styler Uses AI to Prevent Heat Damage – First Review
GHD Sculpt Styler AI Review – First Look at Heat Protection

GHD has unveiled its latest innovation, the Sculpt styler, which uses artificial intelligence to continuously monitor and adapt to your hair's temperature in real time, aiming to eliminate heat damage. Priced at £369, the device launched on 9 July 2026 and represents a significant leap forward from previous models.

How the GHD Sculpt Works

The Sculpt employs AI-powered heat-adapt technology that measures the temperature of your hair rather than the tool's plates. It performs 2,900 temperature checks per second via four measurement systems feeding into an AI microprocessor, ensuring your hair never reaches a temperature that could compromise its natural structure. Unlike traditional stylers that focus on plate temperature, this device continuously adjusts as you style.

Key Features and Claims

GHD says the Sculpt delivers up to 90% more shine, superior curl definition with up to 2.5 times less frizz, colour protection to minimise fade, and styling speeds up to five times faster. It operates at GHD's signature 185°C, the same as the Chronos model, but shifts the focus from plate temperature to hair temperature.

First Impressions from Our Beauty Editor

Beauty lead Zoe Cripps tested the Sculpt for a week before launch. She notes it feels lighter and sleeker than previous models, which aids curling but may require more passes for thick hair. “It's too soon to say if I'm seeing a real difference in the condition of my hair, but I can report smooth and healthy-feeling strands after using it,” she says. “If you've ever used a really hot styler, you'll know that your ends can feel dry and straw-like after styling, but there's none of that with the Sculpt.”

Cripps, who has fine, straight, bottle-blonde hair, is particularly interested in the colour protection promise. “I'm looking forward to seeing if my blonde lasts longer now I'm using the Sculpt,” she adds. She predicts a wider-plate Max version may follow, as seen with the Chronos line.

Comparison with Previous Models

The Sculpt differs from the Chronos, which uses HD motion-responsive technology to keep plates at a consistent temperature. The Sculpt takes this further by measuring hair temperature directly. According to GHD, 98% of users believe heat styling damages hair, making this tech a key selling point.

Pricing and Availability

The GHD Sculpt is available exclusively at ghd.com from 9 July 2026 for £369, making it considerably more expensive than its predecessors. The brand describes it as a product 25 years in the making.
