Counter-Strike 2 Season 5 Start Time, Map Pool Changes Revealed
CS2 Season 5 Start Time, Map Pool Changes Revealed

Counter-Strike 2 Season 5 is imminent following the conclusion of Season 4 on July 6, 2026. Valve has not officially announced the start time, but based on previous season downtime, players can expect Premier queues to reopen within one to two days. Historical data shows a maximum gap of two days between seasons, averaging around one day. With Season 4 ending late on July 6 in UK hours, Season 5 is likely to launch later on July 7 or early on July 8.

Active Duty Map Pool Changes for Season 5

The most significant change for Season 5 is the replacement of Overpass with Cache. Valve added a reworked version of Cache to Counter-Strike 2 in April 2026, updating its layout and visuals for the Source 2 engine. This ends a seven-year absence from the Active Duty map pool since Cache was removed in 2019. Originally a community-created map, Cache entered Active Duty in 2014, and Valve acquired official rights in 2025.

The full Active Duty map list for Season 5 is: Ancient, Anubis, Cache, Dust II, Inferno, Mirage, and Nuke.

Rank Reset and Other Changes

All players will undergo a hard rank reset for Season 5. Each player must complete 10 placement matches to earn a new Premier rating, unaffected by previous season performance. Additionally, a Season 5 commemorative medal is expected, likely awarded for winning a set number of Premier matches—similar to Season 4's requirement of 25 wins.

Players are advised to refresh the Counter-Strike 2 main menu to check when Premier becomes available for queuing.
