Tunisia Sack Lamouchi After One World Cup Game

Tunisia have confirmed they have parted ways with manager Sabri Lamouchi less than a day after the country's opening-game defeat in the World Cup, according to multiple reports. The 54-year-old was dismissed following a 5-1 loss to Sweden in their Group F opener on Sunday night.

Defeat to Sweden Sparks Change

Sweden dominated the match, with Yasin Ayari scoring a brace and Viktor Gyokeres, Alexander Isak, and Mattias Svenberg also finding the net in Guadalupe, Mexico. Omar Rekik scored the only goal for Tunisia, who now face Japan and the Netherlands in their remaining group games.

It appears Lamouchi will not take charge of those matches, as reports indicate he and Tunisia have parted ways. Mondher Kebaier has been named as his replacement.

Player Apologises to Fans

Tunisia star Mohamed Amine Ben Hamida spoke after the defeat and issued a message to the country's supporters. "We suffered a heavy defeat because of small details and mistakes," he told La Presse. "At this level, against a team like Sweden, when you make such serious mistakes, you pay a heavy price."

He added: "Sweden were more efficient; they exploited all our mistakes. We apologise to the Tunisian public after this defeat. We will try to make up for it and correct our course in the next match. We absolutely need more concentration in the future."
