Weather models indicate another heatwave could push temperatures to 36C in parts of England next week, with 10 counties potentially affected.
Forecast Details
The GFS weather model shows temperatures possibly rising above 30C on Sunday, reaching 32C in southern and eastern England, and 30-31C in central areas.
Monday could bring highs of 36C to western England and southern-central areas, with the Midlands hitting 35C, Wales 34C, and Yorkshire seeing 32C.
On Tuesday, East Anglia may see 36C again, with 33C in Lincolnshire and Yorkshire, 34C in the Midlands and south-east, and 30C in Wales.
Counties Affected
The data suggests 10 counties could reach 36C, all in England: Gloucestershire, Worcestershire, Hereford, Warwickshire, Wiltshire, Berkshire, Oxfordshire, Surrey, Norfolk, and Suffolk.
Cooler North
Scotland and Northern Ireland are expected to be cooler, with maximum temperatures in the mid-20s or lower throughout next week.
In England, maximum possible temperatures are at least 30C every day until Sunday, with 34C in the south on Wednesday, 33C on Thursday, and 30-31C on Friday and Saturday.
Met Office Outlook
The Met Office forecast for August 8-17 says temperatures will remain above average, especially in the south, but adds: "Perhaps without the exceptional heat we have seen in recent weeks."
There could be some "thundery interludes," with a mix of rain and drier spells. The Met Office notes: "Towards mid August, high pressure may become rather more dominant towards the north or northwest of the UK, with lower pressure at times further to the south or east."
