Royal Ascot is underway as day one of the five-day extravaganza kicks off in exciting fashion on Tuesday. Punters are flocking to the greatest festival in Flat racing with their best and most eye-catching styles. The gents are suited and booted with top hats, while the ladies are stealing the show in elegant dresses.
Queen Anne Stakes Highlights
Day one starts with the mouth-watering Queen Anne Stakes as Charlie Appleby leads the market with Notable Speech and Opera Ballo. William Haggas hopes to overturn the form on Notable Speech with More Thunder, who performed well in the Lockinge at Newbury last month.
Daily Star Sport’s chief tipster Jason Heavey’s selection Docklands aims for a hat-trick of wins at Royal Ascot after winning this renewal last year. Damysus and Zeus Olympios are also firmly in contention at each-way prices.
Coventry Stakes and More
The Coventry Stakes sees Night In Vegas attempt to upset Aidan O’Brien’s market leaders Confucius and Great Barrier Reef. Night In Vegas was tipped as an ante-post selection at 14/1, but the course and distance winner is now shorter odds.
Jason’s nap of the day, American Affair, runs in the King Charles III Stakes at 15:40. The Jim Goldie-trained six-year-old looks to win the race he won 12 months ago.
Main Event: Bow Echo vs Gstaad
The highlight of the festival sees 2000 Guineas winner Bow Echo look to hold off Gstaad again. Gstaad was no match for Bow Echo at Newmarket but returned to the winners’ enclosure at The Curragh in the Irish 2000 Guineas late last month. Talk Of New York will also be in the mix for Godolphin, and Aidan O’Brien’s second entry Puerto Rico also has chances.
British Culture in Full Force
Royal Ascot showcases British culture at its finest. Racegoers flock to Ascot dressed in their finest attire, with stylish hats stealing the show. The iconic signs and perfect photo opportunities add to the atmosphere. Glowing outfits, legends in place, matching friends, and stunning colours complete the scene.
